Midnight
is the brother of one of my chinchillas, and like his brother, was
badly abused. He was in a cage with forty other chinchillas, when they should
never be in a cage with more than two, and only two if they get along with
each other. I felt so sorry for him, and just had to save him, and while
his ears show evidence of his former life, we hope he has forgotten all
that by now. I do have six chinchillas, only two per cage, and Midnight is
the wildest and most energetic of them all. When you go to get him from his
cage you really have to chase him. He thinks it's a fun game!
When he first came to my home he didn't even know how to take a dust bath,
which is how chinchillas stay clean, but now he loves it and has a fun time
rolling in it, fluffing out his fur, throwing it around and basically
having a grand time! He has come so far in the time he has been with us,
and guess what? We think he may be a dad sometime in the next few months!
Any children he has will never have the hard start he and his brother did,
they will be loved and spoiled from the start, we promise! He got his name
from his darker coloring on his face, and we love him very much just the
way he is.
