Last
February I was in a pet store shopping for dog toys when I noticed
this adorable parakeet. He was green with a big a yellow spot on his tummy
and was happily playing with the other birds. I considered getting him but
the last thing we needed was another pet in the house. For the rest of the
week I could not stop thinking about that little budgie so I went back to
see if he was still there. He was and of course this time I had to have
him. I also decided to buy the little yellow parakeet he had been playing
with. We named the green one Stewie and the yellow one is Sunny. I think
they are a boy and a girl but they are still too young to tell.
Stewie is a wonderful bird with lots of energy. He loves to eat (millet is
his favorite), sit on his swing, and play with his toys. Stewie doesn't
like to come out of the cage too often but he is very curious about
everything around him. He is also extremely protective of Sunny even
though he gets mad when she sits in his spot. We're not sure if they are
going to end up as siblings or husband and wife. The best part is hearing
those sweet parakeets chirping throughout the day. Adding Stewie (and
Sunny) to our family was definitely the right decision!
