Loki
is a Green Cheek Conure, he's almost two (he will be in August) and we've
had him since October 2011. He is DNA-sexed Male, which was not surprising to
us at all. Loki is special to me because he's the first bird that had ever
chosen me (they usually choose my StepMom or my husband). He loves his towel
time and his bedtime snuggles, which both my husband and I enjoy (he jumps
between the two of us). I love the fact that he pretty much only talks to me,
but only says something once (other than step up!) and never again. I love
the happy little "purr" he makes when he's really happy for the food he's
been given, whether it's pellets or fresh stuff. I also think that the
constant kisses when he's happy to be with us are adorable!
He had it rough his first year (pet store, bad home, back to pet store, not
given good diet, attention, etc, until I came along) and I'm hoping the next
20+ make up for that. We had several rough months with Loki, major attacking
and biting, not wanting to be handled or touched, to the point where Hubs was
talking of rehoming, but I said absolutely not! Luckily, he settled down
around the 4th month and he's been really awesome since. He is bossy, a bit
bipolar, a little clown who makes us laugh often and just a whole lot of bird
packed into a tiny little package! Gosh, I love him!
