This
is Hatchet! He is probably about two to three years old and he is a Corn
snake. He lives in San Diego, California! I got this poor little guy from
SDHS, San Diego Herpetological Society. Someone took him in after
accidentally hitting him with a weed-whacker.
The rescue never sexed him, so we do not know his actual gender. We just
call him a he unless proven otherwise! I was told they had him for a
while, two years before I picked him up! The photo on the greenish fleece is
his Adoption photo, the rest are of him now!
His spine was broken in multiple places, which is why he is all krinkly!
He's all healed up from him now, but is considered a "special needs"
snake. He has to eat smaller than average prey (he's on hopper mice and
eats two of those about every week or so). He needs assistance with his
shedding, and also has very little to no grip on the kinked portion of his
body. You also have to hold him carefully, supporting his whole body. If
you hold him wrong, you could cause him some pain or discomfort.
Despite his "issues" he still sheds most of his skin by himself, eats
normally, and moves around great! He is quite the trooper, and he is such
a joy to be with. He's just the sweetest and most trusting snake, and I
love him very much.
