Mickey
(Mickey Blue Eyes is his full name) is my special boy for many
reasons, he always cheers me up when I go to see him, he is playful and
has an awesome personality. He's also your typical naughty pony so that
keeps things interesting!
I try to get out to see him at least three times a week, I live close to
the city and don't have much of my own land so he stays at a stable half
an hour away from where I live. I'm a student and I work a lot so I
definitely need my pony down time! He is very affectionate, he loves hugs
and cuddles. (If anyone but me tries to cuddle him though, he has a bad
habit of head butting them!) He comes when I call, and we are working on
riding without a saddle and bridle (just a rope around his neck). As far
as tricks go he can side pass, collect and extend his paces and jump
fairly high for his size, I wouldn't call those "tricks" exactly, but I
have never been much into teaching my horses/ponies tricks. He loves tag!
I will let him out in our indoor arena and start to run and he'll begin to
chase me, then I'll turn around and chase him, it's lots of fun!
As far as the naughty pony thing; there are many stories there! As I said
he has a bad habit of head butting people who aren't me, every so often he
gets bored while I an riding him so he pretends to spook at things to try
to unseat me. He bucks occasionally and one day last winter I took him out
for a long ride in the snow, through the woods and when we stopped at a
meadow he decided to lay down! So all of a sudden I went from being on top
of my pony to being sideways on the ground underneath him! He is my very
special pony!
