Six
months ago I bought a one-year-old un-tame Jenday conure with a Twisted
beak who I have called Kioko. Everyone else who saw her turned the other
way because of her "creepy-looking" self. When I first got her she bit our
hands viciously as if she'd had a bad experience with human hands. She had
the most horrible meanest look in her eyes for the first day as if to say
"Come near me and you DIE!"
Before I even saw her I knew I had to have her. I wanted her to be my
"project," to test myself and to give myself a challenge.. not to mention
wanting to give her a good home and a chance at a good life. She also used
to be cage-aggressive. When I walked up to her cage or walked past it,
she'd raise her wings a little and charge at me until her head lightly hit
the edge of the cage.
After working with her every day she now comes out onto my hands and will
cuddle up to me. She now loves to get kisses and scratches on her head,
neck, back, under her wings..oh under the wings... She loves it there :D
She's now one of my favorites out of all the birds I have. She's become a
part of the family, and has taken quite a liking to my my young Toddler. I
could never trade her for anything. :) She's a very special girl. This
just goes to show how every single animal is gorgeous and amazing, you
just have to get persist with Kindness and then you'll hit the jackpot! :)
Her favorite thing in the whole world is my daughter's Unicorn Pillow Pet.
In fact all of our pet parrots love that thing, but she loves it the most.
She also loves bath time. She looks like some sort of a spiny dragon when
wet, and she loves having showers with me. She's also fantastic for baby
birds that we take on to hand-raise, she treats them like her own babies
so we usually put her with those baby birds until they're old enough to
wean. She's such a lovely bird. She'll never ever attack anyone or any
bird now. She's too sweet for that.
