This
is my daughter Jennie's baby, sadly he passed away last Saturday
evening. He was only three years old. We have no idea why, he just gave up and
quit eating and drinking.
Teddy was a great guinea. He was a Teddy Bear Guinea Pig and very very
soft. They are born with very thick hair that is very resilient to pests.
Fleas and bugs did not seem to bother him like they did his friend Toby.
They shared a rather large cage together. They were like two peas in a pod
when they were outside. Where one would go. the other seemed to follow.
They like to hide in our clematis bush in all the tangled branches. Teddy
was kind of shy and was harder to catch, but liked to be petted at all
times. He would flatten out with his legs spayed out behind him and coo for
the longest time.
Teddy came home with us after a softball practice from a local pet store.
He would cuddle in Jen's arms and fall asleep. He was so tiny at first but
as you can see he grew to a whopping 1.75 pounds. He liked to eat anything you
put in front of him especially carrots. He got one every day for breakfast.
We were always greeted with him almost falling out the front door which we
always left open, You would have thought they would climb out, but they
seemed to know that it's scary outside the cage because he never came out
on his own. He also liked yogurt drops, and dried carrots. He loved fresh
dandelion leaves, but would not eat the flowers, those his friend always
ate for him. If Teddy or Toby were outside the cage, they always seemed to
like to climb back in the cage so we never worried about them escaping.
Teddy will be greatly missed, but I know he is no longer suffering and is
with our other family pets we have had. Take care Teddy, someday we will
see you again.
