Pearl, the Pet of the Day
Name: Pearl
Age: Three years old
Gender: Female
Kind: Corn snake
Home: Campbell, California, USA
Meet Pearl! She is a Coral Snow corn snake. She's exceptional, especially for a female coral (Males are usually much more colorful)! Naturally, since she's a pink snake, it's been impossible to get a shot that captures her colors accurately! She's much brighter than this in reality. She also has a feisty personality, which I am going to enjoy!

Corn snakes are usually so docile that it amuses me to no end when they show a spicy side. I would guess that she hasn't been handled much since she came from someone who has rather a lot of animals and probably doesn't get to spend a lot of one on one time with individual snakes. I'm sure she'll settle down with some handling, but I've always wanted a corn with some attitude, so I almost hope she doesn't!!

I think she's actually a pretty mellow snake who hasn't been handled much. I had her out briefly last night and she didn't do any of the usual "mean snake" things like rattling her tail or coiling her neck, she just seemed nervous, and she didn't bite me like she did once when I was taking pictures her first day! She is a beautiful snake and we love her very much!
