My
name is Tessa and I want you to meet Rosie, my very special
four-year-old Raccoon girl. We can legally own her in our state (we have
a license) and she is a very wonderful pet. We also found an exotic vet
willing to treat her for when she is sick. Most people I know have said
to me "Raccoons make horrible pets," but they are very wrong when it
comes to Rosie. Rosie is a very loving and affectionate Raccoon with an
amazing personality. She loves to run around outside in her huge pen
that we built for her and she has tons of energy! She is not at all
bothersome like most people would say, I always have lots of fun playing
with her about five to six times a day (she requires lots of attention) and she
is very well socialized with my little sister, Brandi. When we adopted
her, I was ready for the long life commitment to her as I would never
think about releasing her into the wild no matter what. We took the time
to raccoon-proof everything in the house that Rosie could get into and
since we know she requires a lot of space, we took the time before we
got her to clean out our spare bedroom and build her a huge pen that
goes around the entire room (which is a big room by the way). She has
lots of toys to play with, lots of food and she really loves it. But
when I get home from school she always needs to come out and run around
outside. She loves her food and we also give her lots of healthy things
like fruits and veggies and she also gets things like chicken, turkey
and fish. She also sometimes gets a high-protein dog food mixture that
she likes.
She likes being outside, especially with the sun out. She loves the open
space to run around and play in. She likes to play with my soccer ball
that I roll around with her and she even hits it back. She also loves
playing catch for berries that I throw to her, and she runs halfway
across the yard to get them. She also loves hiding out in the mailbox
where she sometimes can curl up to have a nap. She also climbs trees and
sits on the branches for a while, then comes down as soon as she hears
food coming. She never tries to run away and I know she loves being with
our family and it is a lot of work taking care of her, but I was ready
since the day I got her and I love her!
