This
is Phin. He is a Thoroughbred, and he's eight years old. He lives wherever
I do, which is currently in Indiana.
Why might you ask, is Phin so special? Well, I'll tell ya. Our story
actually starts with the loss of my first dog, a german shepherd. My
parents made me give him away because he had some aggression issues. It was
completely heartbreaking, and the only thing I could take comfort in was
horseback riding. The barn was the only place I didn't feel like crying.
A few months after Beaux (my shepherd) left, I got Phin. Now something
important to know about Phin is that he is all kinds of crazy and is
absolutely not afraid to show it. Because I can be a bit hot-headed, it
took us a while to get used to each other and work well together without
fighting. But there's something in his eyes that tells me he would never
hurt me, and even though he's about 1200+ pounds of loco, I feel completely
safe around him. Now, whenever I am sad about anything, be it missing Beaux
or a bad break up (or several), Phin is there for me. He finds a way to put
his energy aside and just be what I need. Our relationship took time and
effort to get to where it is now, but I am lucky to be able to say that
he's my best friend, and I don't know where I would be in life without him.
