This
is my Christmas bird, Louie. I call him that because last Christmas I
had just lost my bearded dragon Gracie after seven years of loving her and
I didn't think I could have ever wanted another pet for a long, long time.
But my mom convinced me to go and look at some birds since I was thinking
of getting one before Gracie died. We went to this one pet store and there
was Louie sitting in his cage all alone. We got him out and he snuggled up
to me and would not let go when we wanted to leave. After some prodding and
pleading my mom agreed to buy Louie, so the day before Christmas we drove
up there and got Louie before anybody could take him. And since then Louie
has brought so much joy and laughter into my life.
Even though we have had him for a year now Louie has learned so many
tricks. He loves giving kisses and playing peek-a-boo. When I come home
from school he runs to the edge of the cage and screams Hi Baby! while
trying to lean over the side of the cage to get some love. He also loves
saying Bye Bye and Don't bite over and over again. He has learned to call
our other bird Pudgy by saying "Come here Pudgy" and learned to mimic
Pudgy's calls and sayings. Louie loves cheering on football teams
especially the Buckeyes and the Bengals. He hasn't quite got down the Go
Buckeyes yet but loves saying Who Dey any chance he can get. Louie has
learned to mimic our laughter and even our coughing which he loves to do
when he hears us making those sounds. He loves eating human food especially
yogurt and gets excited every time he sees the cup. He loves being
scritched and even purrs when he likes it. I could go on and on about Louie
and how happy he makes us and how much I love him. Louie is my crazy baby
bird who I love so much.
