Jake
is a very special bird to us. He can not talk yet as he is so young,
he is just learning. However, there is a very special story that goes with
Jake. Jake's name means "to take the place of." Now, the reason we were
getting Jake was because I had to give up two lovebirds that I loved very
much. But that, as it turned out, would not be all of what he was taking
the place of.
We had a very rough four months beginning in Feburary. We recieved news on
Feburary, 14th that our new baby Quaker was born. We were excited, as I
had been waiting a while for this day to happen. When we were talking to
the breeder, she said that this baby was quite small, and that she would
have to keep an eye on it. Well, unfortunatley, to our dismay, the first
baby quaker we had passed away three days later.
Our second quaker chick was born on March 26th. We decided to name him
Jake, not knowing what it meant. It was a few days later, when our breeder
called us and told us what the name meant, and thought that it was neat
that he was "taking the place of" our first baby quaker.
The hard times didn't end there, in April, we lost our dog. She accidently
got hit bay a car while chasing a deer. Then two weeks later, our aunt
suffered from a brain anurysum and nearly died. So as it turned out Jakey
was now in our lives to ease the pain and shed a little light in our
lives. He is a cheerful little guy, both in disposition, and with his
bright coloring. He makes us smile just to watch him, and is our little
green clown. We love him very much and are happy to have him in our lives.
