I
would like to nominate my beautiful Morgan, Chaise. I have two Morgans,
both geldings, but actually they look very different. Where Chaise is fancy
and showy, his friend Stoney is big and burly.
Chaise is my show horse. I bought him one May and that August we were in our
first show. He's English Pleasure and that was all new to me. A year later, I
lost my mother to a brain tumor. After she was diagnosed on May 12th, I
spent some of every day with her. All through her illness my horses were my
faithful friends. My Chaise and I continued to show, and he did wonderfully for
me. It always seemed as if he knew I was hurting and tried even harder to get
us through everything. He was there every time I needed to cry and would put
his pretty face against my chest and just stay there for hours while I cried
and talked. It's just amazing how animals know when you are hurting, they can
feel your sadness. My Chaise is an exceptional friend/counselor. I don't
know how I would have gotten through that year without my boys. They are
truly the best medicine there is. Chaise is a dark bay gelding and is nine years
old. His registered name is RG Chum but he's way too pretty for such a simple name.
I live on a small acreage in Plattsmouth, Nebraska and am very blessed to have these
two beautiful Morgans in my back yard. I am also blessed with an indoor arena
which means I get to ride year 'round, no matter what Mother Nature sends our
way - which in Nebraska, is a variable thing.
