This
is Elpee. She is a two-year-old Princess parrot, a species native of the
deserts of Western Australia. In the USA she is known as a Princess of Wales
parrot. Elpee was captive bred, which is important because in the wild her
breed is almost extinct. Their beautiful plumage sadly attracted too much
attention, so we are glad enough were captured and being bred to keep them
from going extinct entirely. She is not just beautiful, she is a funny, chatty
and loving bird.
She lives in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. She loves to sit on top of her
cage and yell at all the wild birds like lorikeets and cockatoos that fly
past. She loves to head bob and to bark with her mum, which looks so silly!
She also loves her seven year old sister Rafferty, who is a platinum
cockatiel. She is a treasure to us, and a special bird in every way.
