This
is Borito, he is a Severa macaw, and he is a new pet in my house. He is a
male and like you can see he looks great! I do not know how old he is, but he
is an adult, and as they can live to be 80 years old, I hope he is with me for
many years. The Severa macaw is one of the oldest breeds of macaws that are
available as pets in the Netherlands, and he of course lives in his cage
indoors. They are also called the Chestnut-fronted Macaw, for the brown patch
you see just above his beak.
This Severa macaw is not too loud, unlike some macaws that are very loud.
Borito is new to me, but already I know he is smart, and is able to speak
simple words in the short time I have owned him. They are easy to train and
not aggressive to others. For me, personally, it is the macaw to have
indoors! In his second picture is his friend Sjimmie, he is a young Maracana
Macaw. Borito gets along well with Sjimmie and my other bird, and they often
have play time together outside the cage. Borito like climbing and just
figuring things out, you can almost see him think, and I am glad he is mine.
