This
is Sammy. I wish I could tell you what kind of hamster she is, but I
don't know all that much about them. She's a beautiful golden brown with a
white saddle. Sammy was given to us by our ten-year-old niece who made us
promise to take one when her cherished hamster gave birth to ten little
ones! She's been with us two years now. Sammy has a very nice cage with
three different penthouses. She's a fastidious little gal, and uses one for
her bedroom, one for her kitchen (stashing food) and one for her toilet. It
makes cleaning her cage quite a breeze!
Despite her opulent home, she always wants out of her lair. She is a master
escape artist and has been AWOL more times than I like to think about. Her
favorite hideout is behind the refrigerator, and we go through quite the
bait and switch to lure her out each time. She has discovered the dog bowls
and is quite content to feed on dog kibble and water when she's on the lam!
(Even though I make sure she has her own food and water.) She's a real
cutie pie! Having never owned a hamster before, we did not know what to
expect, or how much personality and mischief could be packed into such a
small body. She likes running on her wheel, but prefers running free even
more. She definitely has her own personality, and is quite certain that
there's a place for everything, and everything should be in it's place, and
she keeps her fur immaculately clean. Who knew we'd end up loving her so much!
