Jack
and Jill are two male Snowshoe Hares. They currently live with me in my
house in Buchans, Newfoundland (Canada). They were rescued from the wild when
they were just days old. They were too tiny to determine their sex when we
first got them, so we went with the names Jack and Jill anyway. For the first
few weeks, they needed to be fed milk through an eye dropper.
Although these animals were not used to the indoors, they caught on very
quickly and are now no different than any other domestic pet. Jack and Jill are
now a little over one year and seven months old. They eat a variety of foods,
however their all time favorite are blueberries. They have a tendency to like
softer foods, and they really enjoy can veggies. They also eat many of the
other typical rabbit foods, such as romaine lettuce, grapes, carrots, banana,
broccoli, celery, corn, and raisins.
Jill caught on very quickly to his litter box and was trained when he was just
one month old. Jack had a bit more trouble with it, however is now doing very well
with using his litter box regularly.
They both love getting out of their cage for their daily run. And just recently
Jill was introduced to the outdoors (on his leash of course), which he also
enjoyed.
Jack and Jill are both very friendly, loving animals. Jill enjoys being up in
your arms cuddling, while Jack is the more independent type and prefers to be
petted from his cage.
Jack and Jill are very festive and take part in all holidays with the
appropriate wear. They are currently looking forward to their favorite holiday,
Easter!
