We are Minnie and Pearl (solid white) and we are ready for our first Christmas
in our forever home. Life was not always so good. Last spring we were left
loose in a backyard with all of our brothers and sisters, cousins and mom and
dad because our owners could not keep up with our breeding habits.
Fortunately, Ruth from Huntsville Friends of Rabbits rescued us and put all twenty
of us into foster care. Foster care was pretty good. Ruth received a
humanitarian award for her work with bunnies and her friend Heather, along
with her own rabbit, Wolfie, are a certified animal assisted tMinnie, Pearlpy team.
They go to a nursing home and cheer up the residents there. How cool is that?
With people like them, you know we got the best of care. Then one Sunday, it
was time for the annual Christmas party where people could bring their bunnies
to get their pictures taken with Santa. This year the lady who is now our Mom
didn't take one of her bunnies, but she brought an empty cage to the party.
Her plan was to bring some of us home with her. It was a hard decision for
her. There were so many beautiful bunnies. Finally, she chose us. One
reason for her decision was we would let her pick us up. A lot of bunnies
don't like that. That is why we are not always a good pet for children -
bunnies, that is. We wouldn't mind, ourselves. We are happy together. Mom
cleans our cage several times a day and feeds us good food and hay. We wish
everyone as merry of a Christmas as we will have in our new home and a happy,
hoppy New Year, too.
