This is Jheri. About three years
ago, a friend of mine who has a small flock of budgies asked if I could take
her. She was hatched amid that flock and for some reason her dad-bird was not
treating her nicely. She did very well here with my budgies, Sergio and
Jazzy. She and Sergio are a couple, but Jazzy protects her as well. Like many
female budgies, Jheri has laid eggs almost every year that she has lived
here, and that often causes problems with their reproductive systems.
Jheri is currently living with a hernia - you can see it in the picture of
her on the yellow cup. She has been examined by my vet, who is avian
certified and who I trust very much, and we agree that her quality of life is
good since she still flies around a good bit, eats extremely well and spends
lots of time preening and cuddling with her boyfriend Sergio. The remainder
of the time she rests in her fuzzy hut while either Sergio or Jazzy stands
guard. They take very good care of her. Jheri is a darling little bird and
I'm glad that she came to me so that I can care for her special needs and
make her life comfortable and happy.
