Princess
is my very spoiled tarantula. She likes to sit in her cage and look
pretty although others might describe her as scary. She is decent-sized for
her breed and is fuzzy all over. When I feed her crickets and she's really
hungry, she will patiently wait for them to come to her, then pounce! She's a
sweet girl though, she will let you hold her. I love challenging people to get
over their fear of spiders by holding her and so far, Princess has helped
many!
Cute and cuddly, huh?
When the weather is warm out I let her crawl around outside. Her mood changes
instantly and she is suddenly more active and seems much happier. If you put
one hand in front of her and gently touch her back legs, she will walk right
into your hand. That is how I introduce her to new friends and prospective
boyfriends... because if he doesn't get along with Princess then he's just not
for me!
I have a lace canopy on covering my bed that I sometimes let her climb. It's
really cool to be able to see her black fangs from the other side, and while
they look intimidating, she has never bitten anybody. Rose haired tarantulas
have good tempers and make great first time exotic pets. I don't think it's
even possible to make Princess angry enough to bite, she would rather turn
around and walk away than put up a fight. At the end of the day when she's
exhausted from exploring, she will curl up in a little spider ball, bending
all her legs close to her body, it's adorable.
