Amelie
(Emme to her friends) was adopted from the shelter with just days
until her time was up. Her age is unknown... somewhere between seven and
nine years old. She is special as she loves all, as evidenced by this
photo of Em and her friend Natalya, who was four months old at the time of
this pic. Natalya and Amelie met each other moments before this was taken,
and the love was immediate. Amazingly, she's like that with all. If that's
not a special bunny... I don't know what one is!
What makes Amelie so special is her love for all. And, of course, her
cuteness. Whenever I come home, Emme stands on twos waiting for a verbal
acknowledgement (ie "Hello") then will go back onto fours. She also does
this with guests to my home.
Her personality is sweetness personified. Amelie will cuddle with you for
an entire movie, or go up onto her cage top if you're having a hard day to
look at you with an oddly understanding gaze. I've had other rabbits
before and none have been as precious as this one!
For a year, she "wrote" a column for the Burbank Animal Shelter newsletter
entitled "Ask Amelie." As a world famous supermodel, she had tips and
tricks about bunny care (ie hydrating, etc.) written in her "voice." Being
a bit spoiled, she only likes a frozen bottle of Fiji water to keep her
cool and rest against on a hot summer day. And of course a yogurt button
as a reward for being so cute!
Her favorite games are taking all of her toys (rabbit chews and cat
rattles) and knocking them down within a minute of you piling them up. Her
inner architect then kicks in and she then will line everything up... a
nickname is Emme Lloyd Wright.
I've had Amelie since February of 2002 when I adopted her from San
Francisco ACC. She was my Valentine that year and has been a favorite one since.
Writing all this makes me want to give her a yogurt button treat now!
