This
is Sonny van der Beek, my sun conure. I adopted him because a woman
that I worked with decided that she didn't have time for him and his
cagemate Quincy the Quaker parrot any longer. He and Quincy now live with
us and our ten other birds in Largo, FL. When they came to live with us,
Sonny decided that my husband was the most wonderful person on earth and
bonded with him immediately. He is starting to say "Papa!" in his croaky
little voice when he sees Barry or wants his attention. He also says "Stop
it!" and "No!" You can see that he picked up some of the things he heard
most often in his previous home! Funny thing is that he uses the word "no"
in a reasonable way. He will drink fruit juice from my husband's cup and
when he stops, Barry asks him, "Do you want more?" and Sonny says "No!"
Sonny will also tell my husband "no" when Barry is using the phone and not
paying attention to him.
Sonny is a dancing boy and has some good moves. Here is a link to a video
of him dancing and playing
percussion to our special flock song, "Ain't no Thing Like a Chicken Wing."
