This
is my sweet girl Sage. She is a Senegal Parrot, but not your ordinary
run-of-the-mill Sennie. She is an orange-bellied Senegal and so she is a bit
lighter than her cagemate Djimo and has a bright orange vest instead of
yellow. She is a fun-loving, food-loving character and, as you can see, will
let me put a hat (or a piece of lettuce!) on her head for a giggle! She also
enjoys dancing when we make music at our house and will bob up and down in
time to the song.
Sage is extremely smart and loveable. Unlike the "textbook" Senegals who
enjoy playing on their own and exploring, Sage would much rather spend time on
a shoulder snoozing, looking for kisses or a snack or being squished and
kissed over and over again. She has a special affection for her papa and can
be very jealous of our sun conure, who also loves papa especially. Sage came
to me from the Bird Sanctuary where I volunteer when she was very young,
probably about six or seven months old. She was found in Clearwater Beach, FL
outside a very large, upscale Gulfside buffet. Now that we know her well, all
we can say is, "It figures!" She was probably looking to run up and down the
buffet table, munching on everything!
She is our darling and keeps us laughing all the time.
