||Three years old|
||New Caledonian Crested Gecko|
||Williamston, Michigan, USA|
is a Dark Flame pattern Crested Gecko. She came from the same breeder
as my male geckos Raptor and Nimrod, and was a prize from a contest I entered
on the breeder's site.
Like my male gecko Raptor, she's a bit on the heavy side, but not nearly as
big as him, but she is a female, after all. During the day, her pattern is
quite faded and dull (resting colors), but at night she "fires up" to this
beautiful dark color along her sides and legs, with a lovely cream contrast
running from her head to tail.
June is my most talkative of the bunch. When I reach for her, she lets me
know that she's not happy about being taken out of her tank. Their sounds
range from a squawking sound (like wet fingers on glass) to a chirp that
sounds like a bird. But like most of the others, she calms down once held and
scratched behind the ears. So she is friendly, once she has adjusted to the
June has never been bred, but I'm sure her babies would be very cute!
