||Two and a half years old|
is Finbarr Fuzziwig Squasherello Smashington, a boy guinea pig. His
favourite things are hiding, parsley and people's toes.
He's usually very affectionate and kissy, but becomes furious if I run out of
his favourite food and screams the house down. The neighbours must think I'm
very cruel to him. He's very noisy and makes it clear when he wants to eat, be
cuddled, be put down, etc, with a repertoire of different squeaks, chirps and
squeals. When I bring him fresh parsley. he gets so excited that he doesn't
know what to do with himself and runs up and down the stairs in his
three-storey house as I open the bag. He's my Sugar Plum Furry and we like to
cuddle together in bed as if he was a teddy bear.
When I take him out of his cage to clean him pout, he gets very cross, but he
loves it and is all pleasantly surprised when I put him back in the clean
cage, full of nice, fresh, tasty hay (but he'll have forgotten and will be
horrified again next time). He also likes hiding. He jumps up and down happily
(known as 'popcorning' to guinea pig owners) when I say 'chumbley wumbley' to
him; I don't know why. He listens to me when I talk and licks my tears away
when I'm sad. I can't imagine loving anything or anyone more. He wants to be a
hippo when he grows up.
