Hi!
This is Djimo Beaumont Teasedale. He is an adult Senegal Parrot,
probably about six to eight years old, we don't know for sure. He lives
with me and our eleven other birds of various sorts in Largo, FL. His
cagemate is Sage Barrot Teasedale and she is wearing the hat in the
picture of the two of them together.
I volunteer at a wild bird sanctuary here on the west coast of Florida and
Djimo came in one day. We don't know who he lived with before or why he
was given up. His wings were clipped at the time so he didn't fly away
from his original home... Maybe he was just supposed to come and live
with me! Well, he's been with me almost four years now and he is my darling.
He likes almonds, Nutriberries and birdie bread. He prefers toys that he
can shred or rubbery things he can tear pieces off of. He bathes in his
water bowl every other day. He has crazy yellow eyes that go very bright
when he is excited by something like a toy, food or if he sees another animal.
We play a game where I wave frantically to him and yell, "Hi Djimo!" and
he gets all puffed up and yells "Pretty bird!" He stands at the top of his
play gym and whistles back and forth with his friend Sage. He says "Hello"
and "Hey Booboo!" and several other things that we can't quite understand.
Both he and Sage make some very strange and funny noises. I get up an hour
early in the morning so that I can take him and Sage out to the couch with
me and we sleep all cuddled, one bird against either side of my neck,
until I have to get up for work.
