||Nine years old|
||Pacifica, California, USA|
is Commando. He is our nine year old (two years to us) miligold
macaw (cross between a military macaw and a blue and gold macaw). He has
moved around the country for a couple of years and here is his story:
He was hatched then put in a Petco for sale (in Florida) when a couple
bought him and moved to somewhere in California. They then had a couple
of kids and Commando was left out of things and became a little
aggressive (but who wouldn't be if you were locked in a cage all day!).
They couldn't handle him and so Commando was donated to the local Humane
Society. After his being there for six months, I came across his
picture as I was looking at dogs with my friend. I knew I had to see
him and one week later he was ours and loving his new fun-filled home!
He now pursues singing to his favorite "big kid show", Wonder Pets. He
loves fruit, like melons and oranges, and wants a bite of whatever
you're having. He loves to play "blankie" where he is on a blanket and I
will take a big spoon from the kitchen and preen his feathers. Any
trusting bird should love this because it makes them less itchy and a
lot calmer so the new feathers can grow in. I love my Commando!
