Sprokett
is almost three feet long at about eight pounds. I adopted him newly hatched
at six inches long when he fit in my hand! He eats a variety of foods from
mice and rats to ground duck and boiled eggs. He's a spoiled baby, and
still a baby. Sprokett, with good care, can live to be twenty years old!
Savanna Monitors can grow to around four feet in length and are cousins to the
Komodo Dragon. Monitors are one of the only lizard breeds to have forked
tongues like snakes. Having a forked tongue helps him taste the air when
searching for food. Sprokett loves to walk around on a harness in the
grass outside when the weather is nice. He also loves to take warm baths
in the tub!
Sometimes Sprokett can have a bit of a temper, but most of the time he's
pretty relaxed and just wants to bask, eat, sleep, and explore. Being as
silly as he is, sometimes he will fall asleep in the weirdest positions
such as face first into his food bowl or half standing propped up in the
corner of his tank.
More recently he has become quite the snuggler when I take him out for
exercise, nuzzling his head into my hair and sleeping on my shoulder.
Sprokett is a wonderful pet being a large lizard, and I look forward to
the years to come as we grow old together.
