Amos, the Pet of the Day
Name: Amos
Age: Three years old
Gender: Male
Kind: Llama
Home: Oxford, Mississippi, USA

Let me introduce you to Famous Amos. He came to Oxford as a Mother's Day present. I knew he was going to be special because not all mothers get a llama on this special day. Soon after Amos settled in to his new home, a tree fell on the fence during a bad storm. Amos found the downed fence and started another adventure. He traveled to a major highway where there were moving creatures much larger than him. He walked around the cars, by the trucks, and even stuck his head in a few open windows. As he was trotting away from all of the funny two-legged people that were coming out of these big creatures, he heard a familiar sound of his owner calling his name, "AMOS!"

Amos stopped in his tracks, turned and ran to me. He followed me down the road where we stood for about thirty minutes waiting for my husband to bring Amos a trailer to bring him home. This is the point at which plain old Amos became "Famous Amos." People still talk about the funny looking creature that stopped traffic for over an hour. I was in a checkout line and a lady was describing the excitement of this creature's stopping traffic. Amos even ate one of her french fries when she rolled down the window!

Famous Amos is part of a big family. He lives in a huge pasture with my horses, donkeys, cows, and dogs. He enjoys spending summer days standing in the pond or laying under shade trees. Amos never meets a stranger.

I have had Famous Amos for almost two years now. I have had many wonderful Mother's Day gifts, but I think Amos is the best one of them all.
