This
is my little Garrotxa, nibbling a carrot. Garrotxa (pronounced
gah-roh-cha) was named after a spanish cheese. We adopted her as a
cagemate for a guinea pig named Feta, so the name seemed appropriate!
She is a Texel guinea pig.
When she was a baby, she had the most piercing shriek I've ever heard.
You could tell when she wanted something! She's not quite as noisy now,
but when someone like the vet, displeases her, it's not hard to tell -
even from the other side of a closed door.
Garrotxa has the most wonderful, springy fur which is typical of her
breed, the Texel. It's grown softer as she gets older. It also picks up
scents very well. Sometimes that's bad, but when I feed her aromatic
herbs, which she adores, she smells wonderful for a week! She is my spunky girl.
