Stumpy
is a gray-wing budgie from Queens, New York. You might wonder about
Stumpy's name, or perhaps you have already noticed she only has one foot!
She was born in our neighbor's house next door, and before her feathers
grew in, she had an accident. She got a bunch of wet cotton stuck to her
body, and when the neighbor tried to clean it off of her, he accidently
ripped off her foot! He took care of it, though, and applied Antibiotic
cream to it every day and it healed nicely. Ever since then though, the
playful moniker "Stumpy" just sort of stuck around with her.
Stumpy doesn't let her handicap affect her life. Nowadays, she gets around
even better than her two cagemates, who have both their feet intact, and
she quickly became boss of the cage. She is very feisty and likes getting
her own way.
