Sandy
was a great hamster. She took forever to tame, but it was more
than worth it. She was the cutest little thing, running on her wheel all
night long, and trying to run up your sleeves when you held her. She'd
stuff all her food into her cheeks and loved carrots.
She was my first hamster. When I got her, she was curled up in a little
ball with her two sisters. I chose her because of her three spots on her
back. I named her Sandy for the color of her fur. Another name she had
was the great Sandinni! She was a great escape artist. She managed to
escape each and every cage she had, except the very last. The first cage
she had she quickly learned how to open the door. The next cage she was
moved to was a homemade cage made from a storage bin. This one worked
well, until she chewed through an air hole and was found in my bed.
Finally I made her another, huge storage bin cage that she couldn't
reach the top of, but that had plenty of ventilation. She never escaped
from this cage. She died from some unknown disease, we don't know why.
But I will always remember her!
