||One year old|
||Chesapeake, Virginia, USA|
is Milenko. She is a one year old Burmese Python. She lives with me
and a few other snakes in Chesapeake, VA. I got her from a Rescue where
she was saved from being kept in a bath tub for months and was not being
fed. At the rescue, the guy said that she was not recommended for handling
because of her hate of people. She would strike at everyone who passed by
her tank and she's hiss and puff up. So I thought I'd give her a shot and
took her home. On the first day she just puffed up and was really vocal,
hissing and gurgling. But I was calm and chill (I used to have an Anaconda
that would do the same thing). And she let me pick her up, no biting or
striking. I was actually stunned at her sudden calm.
Now that she's fattened up and healthy and has been used to me pestering
her all the time, she is one of the easiest snakes to hold. Isn't she a
beauty now? I've even taken her out and to the park where small children
have held her. That helps them learn that snakes are not enemies or
anything to be afraid of. Milenko will even let me rub all over her head!
She's truly a gift and I'm so glad I gave her a chance, she is too!
