I
had "lucy" since July 4 1999 and she passed
away on June 17 2007. She was a very lovable dutch rabbit with a larger
than life personality, she was very special to me. She was a domestic
rabbit who had her own room. I have no children and I considered her my
daughter. My family and my friends all loved her, she was such a good
girl. She is deeply missed. Her support was there for me when my mom
passed away in '02.
She was very special. I adopted her in July of 1999 and I had her travel
cage next to my bed with a towel folded on top and she would jump up on
top of it and every morning she would wake me up by putting her nose to
my nose - it was startling but she was so cool. Yes, she was very
affectionate - everybody loved her, she was the queen. My sister said she
wanted to come back as Lucy because she had the "life of
reilly." She was somewhat independent in character.
A few years ago she had some lumps on her ovaries and they were
cancerous. She had a great vet, Dr. Michael Coughlan, and he basically
gave her a hysterectomy (he neutered her), and after that she was doing
handsprings. She had a loving and long life. I love her very much and
will miss her. She died in my arms on Father's Day June 17 2007. I'm
having a hard time with her death, because I was with my mom in the E.R.
when she passed way. And now I was with my Lucy... I held her for over
four hours. I couldn't let go, she was my first pet. I'm just so
heartbroken, but I have great friends and family with pets that have
given me a lot of support and love. I'm very thankful and blessed for my
family and friends, and most of all for having Lucy as my friend.
