Jelly, the Pet of the Day
Name: Jelly
Age: One year old
Gender: Male
Kind: Syrian Teddybear Hamster
Home: Clifton Heights, Pennsylvania, USA
Jelly is a very mellow, friendly hamster. I got him for my birthday last year. He was the first hamster I saw when I walked into the pet store. He was sitting down, stuffing his face with food. I knew I had to have him. Since he was in a cage labeled "females," I thought he was a girl. To my surprise about two weeks later, I discovered he was a boy!

Jelly got sick once. He developed an abcess. I immediately took him to the vet. I had to give him antibiotics orally with a syringe. At first he wiggled a lot, but he soon became used to being given the medication. He got better fast, and he's still doing great today. Some of his favorite things are: being held, small plain milkbones, carrots and sleeping. He's definitely a much loved little friend, and a real family member.
