Tuwee
or Tut as he is often referred to by my nieces was born is a Male
Pekin Duck in a hatchery approximately April, 15, 2007. He was soon then
packed as warmth for 60+ Chicks. They made their way to a Feed/Pet store
close to my house. The chicks, turkeys chicks and guinea chicks were all
sold within the end of the week, but Tuwee, the only duck, was left
alone.
I had been planning on rescuing ducks who needed a home. I passed by
the feed store, to stock on the necessary for whenever I found a duck
that needed me. As soon as I walked in to the store, I heard a peeping,
a loud, scared peeping coming from the far end of the feed store. As I
walked closer I could hear the employees of the store calling "it"
names, and threatened to kill him if he wouldn't "shut up." My heart
sank. I stayed with the duckling for a couple of minutes, and told
myself he would find a home.
I made my way back home and Rushed onto the computer, where a good
friend was surprisingly online at that time. I talked to her about it,
and she convinced me to go back, and Get him.
Tuwee has since been here, happy, spoiled, and keeping us all in Check!
We built him a pen in our yard and he is as happy as can be.
