||Five years old|
||Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA|
is very special and important to me. I've had him since he was a
little baby turtle, no bigger than the bottom of a water bottle. I
thought Pickles was a female turtle until puberty hit and he started
growing long nails that can inflict pain! In the wild, those nails would
be used for digging.
I think Pickles is always hungry, although he is not chubby at all. He
always lets me know when he is hungry, which is every time I pass his
aquarium. He bites everything, including bottle caps, rocks, plastic
bags, leaves and other things. I always have to keep a close eye on him
before he eats anything dangerous. When I let him out for a few minutes,
he follows me, and attempts to nip at my toes! I call him 'killer
turtle' when he does that. I have to be careful where I walk when he's
out exploring! By the way, I think he likes the color yellow. He bites
any yellow objects, and not the other colors.
He's so silly and sometimes grumpy, but I still love him. He's grown so
much these past five years. Below is a picture of him in small one-gallon
plastic container both five years previously and currently.
