||Three years old|
||Abyssinian Guinea Pig|
||Southern Pines, North Carolina, USA|
is Ziggy (the Piggy). He is an Abyssinian tri-color guinea pig. He
spends weekdays in Ms. Linsey's 2nd grade classroom at Southern Pines
Primary, in Southern Pines, NC.
Ziggy is special because he loves to come to school. His cage is on the
floor next to the reading pillows and whenever children sit down next to
his cage to read, he runs up his ramp and sits on his ledge to listen to
the children read. The students love to read "Fluffy, the Classroom
Guinea Pig" books to Ziggy. Their favorite thing to do is to feed Ziggy
carrots, lettuce, grapes and apples. He has bad manners and grabs the
carrots and gobbles them faster than Bugs Bunny!
He got the name "Ziggy" because he was constantly "popcorning" when he
first came home with us. Even at three years, he "jumps for joy" when he
sits on my lap. He's always "chuttering" when we hold him and he never
forgets to remind us when it's snack time. Sometimes when I'm writing on
the board, I'll feel a little tug on my skirt. I look down, and there's
Ziggy, chewing on my skirt, as if he didn't get enough treats already!!!
Ziggy is a wonderful little pig!
