is Ace. He is a three to five year old paint, we're not really
sure how old he is. Ace is sixteen hands and weighs about 1100 pounds. We
purchased him at an auction. It was love at first sight; I just had to
have him (who couldn't love a face like his).
Ace's first week on the farm was interesting to say the least. He let
us know right away that we would have to earn his trust. Ace certainly
was not a gentleman when he came home. He tried to bite, kick, and he
even reared-up and struck at me. Ace was also very head-shy and would
spook easily. This big silly boy was even afraid of cows. Someone must
have been treated him very cruelly to make him so afraid and
After a couple of weeks filled with lots of treats and plenty of TLC he
settled in nicely. He no longer bites or kicks and is quite the
gentleman. Ace now enjoys the company of three other horses and a cow.
He has become as good as can be, now that he can trust us. He's not even
afraid of the cow any more! And he and our other trail horse, Ike, are
now the best of pals. They both enjoy trail riding and treats!
