is pretty special to me because I work at a pet store and she had
been there for a year. About seven or eight months ago I fell in love
... She would never allow anyone near her or especially pet her. I was
never really a bird person but I saw her looking so lonely, I had to
stop and talk. After visiting her at every break for about two months
she started warming up and letting me touch her through her cage. And
I'd also swing her toys and she'd love it. We played all the time for
about another month or so. After that she started calling my name -
quietly but loud enough to know that she was calling "Heather!" anytime
I would walk away, which of course would bring me right back. Soon she
was letting me pick her up and pet her and eventually letting me rub her
neck. So four months ago I broke down and brought my little girl home,
and she's doing just fine. She loves her showers with me - we sing and
dance! Her best friend is a black lab named Phoebe. She calls her when
she wants to sit on the couch and share Phoebe's cheesy bone with her.
