Rabies, the Pet of the Day
Name: Rabies
Age: Five months old
Gender: Female
Kind: Syrian Hamster
Home: Calgary, Alberta, Canada

This is Rabies. She is a Syrian hamster, or also called a Golden hamster. I saved her from my relative who, although took care of her fine, did not pay attention to her and she got wild. He soon didn't want her anymore, so I gladly took her in. He gave her her unusual name, but she seemed to respond to it, so I kept it.

It took a little while to tame her, but after a while she loved to be held and absolutely loved to run in her hamster Ball. Rabies is still a bit shy, and will stand still for a long time if she is startled by any loud noises. But I still love her to death, and her home proves it! She lives in a habitrail safari cage, and an original bar cage, with tonnes of tubes to connect them together. She has a lovely tube house to sleep in, two wheels, two water bottles, one food dish and a mineral block, not just any mineral block, but a tunnel mineral block that she can both lick and play in.

Her favorite game is 'peek a boo' where she goes in between the cushions of our couch, and pops out to 'scare' us on the other side. She is so much fun, and will be expecting a litter soon, I' m sure she will make a perfect mom. I love my baby Rabies so much!
