My pet Diti is a Golden Greek Land Tortoise. This is how it all started...

For my birthday I wanted a pet snake, but my mom disagreed right away. She knew I wanted a pet so badly, and I really did. The next day was my birthday my mom took me to a pet store and said, "Get whatever you want besides a snake." I was thinking about a bunny or a little birdie. But as I just finished the store I saw the reptile room. I said, "Mom, just let me look." Then I saw Diti playing with her friends and I wanted her right away.

My mom thought about it and she decided that it would be good for me. We got her at the age of 22 and have had her three years. She is the sweetest tortoise in the world. She is so friendly and loves attention. I love to play with her and show my friends. They think it is so cool. I love to take her outside to play. She loves to explore the grass and the trees. She eats mainly lettuce and a little fruit. She is just so calm, never acts up or has a fit. I love her color and she catches everyone's eye. She is the nicest tortoise ever. She stays in a tank in my room with a hut, a tree, her food and has a blast. She loves to bathe in her heat lamp. She will sit there for hours and sleep. Diti is not a lot of trouble and is great for kids who want a pet. You have to feed it, bathe it, play with it, and give it love. That's all it takes to raise a healthy happy golden Greek. And if you think they need a friend they really don't. They will think that the other would be a threat!
