About Us
Louie, the Pet of the Day
Name: Louie
Age: Eleven years old
Gender: Male
Kind: White-faced Cockatiel
Home: Mason City, Iowa, USA
Louie is a White-faced cockatiel who lives in Mason City, Iowa with his brother Eddie (a normal grey cockatiel) and sister Pooky (a Timneh African Grey). His Hatch Day was May 14th and he turned eleven years old! He is such a special little bird that my husband and I rescued from an irresponsible frat boy when we were in college.

He came to us in a twelve-pack generic soda container when he was about five weeks old. We took him in from a "friend of a friend" who supposedly didn't ask his landlord if he could have pets. Apparently, the breeder who sold him would not take him back, and the guy was going to let him loose outside. We took him in, not knowing that he was unweaned until he showed up at our door! We learned how to hand feed him and we did it for about six weeks. I guess we did it right, because he grew up to be a slightly plump little bird with a healthy appetite.

Louie likes to sing when you show him a box of wheat thins and he can meow like a little kitten. He has grown up to be the sweetest little bird ever! We are so lucky that Louie ended up with us and not out on the street to fend for himself.

We like to call Louie our "Sweet Little Angel!" We love him so much.
