This
is Gijs, my iguana iguana (also called a green iguana). Gijs is now
nine years old and is around 120 cm long (almost four feet) including the
tail, so thus she is quite a big lady. Iguanas in captivity can live
till they are 25 years old, so we have still got plenty of more years to
share with this wonderful lady.
Gijs is very pretty. Her favorite food is grasshoppers of which she
can easily eat 10-12 of at a time. She is a vegetarian, but enjoys a few
bugs and a good piece of steak once in a while as a treat. She also
loves endive, salad, chicory, cucumber, red bell pepper's etc. When I
first met her, I found her rather scary, but now I think that she is a
sweet heart and I am impressed by how cuddly that she actually is. So if
you ever come to visit me, don't fear, she's a true angel!
