Reg
was a rescue pig, my friend and I collected him from a garden center
where he was bullied by his guinea pig brothers and often ended up
bleeding. My friend and I named him Reg because on the hot day that we
carried him for at least half a mile, he was inside a box that had
'Reg' written all over it. Luckily, when we asked to keep him, (bearing in
mind I was 14/15 at the time) the parents didn't say no and we kept him.
At the time we had two other guinea pigs that lived together, April and
Avril, both were female and quickly became friends with little Reg. Reg
even fathered children with Avril.
Reg then went to keep my brother company for a while because he was
living on his own and Reg and my brother became almost inseparable. Reg
would sit on my brother's lap and watch tv with him and chatter away
happily when they were in the kitchen. When my brother moved out, Reg
came back to love with us for a while and was devastated to find April
had passed away but glad he still had Avril.
Reggie was also a favorite with my rabbits, at one point we had two
adult female rabbits and six baby rabbits running around the garden with
Reg. Mind you, if anyone got in between him and a carrot he would
curse at them and run off with it (bearing in mind the carrot was bigger
then him!). My mum's adult rabbit was also best of friends with Reggie,
running around and eating together.
Reggie is one of the only animals I had to clean that actually
thanked me for cleaning him and giving him his dinner.
He was an awesome pig and sorely missed by his widow, Avril.
