Blaze, the Pet of the Day
Name: Blaze
Age: Fifteen weeks old
Gender: Male
Kind: Campbell's Russian Dwarf Hamster
Home: San Jose, California, USA

I think Blaze is the most adorable hamster that ever existed, and he is the best pet hamster ever.

I got Blaze fifteen days after my old hamster died. When we brought him home he was only 4.5 centimeters long and had a beautiful, silky, gray coat. He was the special one out of the other twenty hamsters there that looked just like him. Blaze is so sweet. He doesn't bite, and I doubt he ever will. Whenever he doesn't want something, he takes his little hands and bats them at you. It's so funny! You barely feel a thing and it's cute, just like him. Every one who sees him is awed, and wants to hold him really badly. Even the younger one in the family holds him! I hold him almost every day.

Blaze is a deep sleeper, like most hamsters. He does not like to be held or disturbed when he is sleeping. He is rarely seen running in his wheel, but we know he does from where his wheel is positioned.

My family calls him a sucker for his favorite treat, which we call Peanut Butter Balls. It has sesame seeds on the outside and an unshelled peanut on the inside (he is clutching one in the picture). He mainly eats the sesame seeds. These treats are the main way we get him out of his cage!

Blaze has surely grown a lot. He is still so small! His coat has slowly changed to a beautiful brown-grey, as you can see above.

I love Blaze so much. I am very proud to be the owner of this great hamster. I hope he stays with us much, much longer.
