||One year old|
||Toronto, Ontario, Canada|
is our pet rabbit, Miss Stewart (we thought she was male at first!
Oops). The best vet's guess at her age places her at about one year old.
Miss Stewart came to be our pet quite by accident. She was abandoned in
a laneway last summer, and left to fend for herself. She would hop
through the yards on our street around sundown each night, looking very
domestic and terribly out of place. It took weeks (and a few honey
treats) to gain her trust, but finally I was able to pick her up and
bring her inside, out of the unbearable heat wave we were experiencing.
She was skin and bones, and very nervous. Our two cats, Alpo and
Roady, weren't quite sure what to think at first, but have come around
and grown quite fond of little Miss Stewart, as have we.
She loves being loose with the cats, playing with them (well, chasing
them really) for a few hours each evening. She gets her exercise going
up and down the stairs, and Alpo may even shed a few pounds himself!
She is a sponge for affection and after her evening romp, she will
cuddle up and fall asleep in our arms. She has come a long way in a
very short time, and is now a confident and outgoing rabbit, much loved
by us all.
