Promethius, the Pet of the Day
Name: Promethius
Age: One year old
Gender: Male
Kind: Bearded Dragon
Home: O'Fallon, Illinois, USA

This lovely creature is Promethius, the Bearded Dragon. My son, Evan, brought him home from a reptile show a year ago when Pro was just a couple of inches long. He now measures about a foot from head to tail. Promethius is a charming dude. He loves to hang around on someone's shoulder, especially if it is for a walk in the sunshine. I never thought I could become attached to a reptile but Bearded Dragons have loads of personality and are very easy to fall in love with. He is a welcome addition to our family.

Promethius is rather a laid-back sort of fellow. His favorite activity is to bask under his heat lamp or in a spot of sunshine coming through a window. His second favorite thing to do is to eat superworms or crickets. His diet also includes romaine lettuce and fruits such as mangos and bananas. Bearded Dragons can eat dry pellets especially designed for them, but Promethius prefers fresh food. Promethius loves attention and will knock on his glass tank when he wants to come out to play. We have a lot of fun putting him down on the floor and seeing where he runs off to. (It usually is to the warmest sunniest spot in the house.) When we lose Promethius we just ask our cat Sirrus to find him and Sirrus usually can locate him. We have two other cats, a dog, a hamster and a mouse and all the animals get along very well.
