Gizmo, the Pet of the Day
Name: Gizmo
Age: Sixteen months old
Gender: Male
Kind: Holland Lop Rabbit
Home: Victoria, British Columbia, Canada

This is Gizmo, my sixteen-month-old blue Holland Lop bunny. He has the sweetest personality but he's a bit of a nervous bun. That's because he is deaf. He loves to be petted and will sit still for a long time just so he can get lots of petting. He is litter trained and very good with that too. He is always ready for a treat and sometimes will give you kisses all over your face. I love him to bits and as you can see from the picture he's a very happy bun!

I have always wanted a bunny but because we have a cat I never got a bunny until the end of December last year. The cat and him are scared of each other so they are kept in separate areas of the house.

His most favorite toy is a plastic ball filled with treats that he rolls around the floor. He learned very quickly that when he does this he is rewarded with the treat that falls out of one of the two holes on either side of the ball. He is a digger and one morning I woke up to a big pile of litter spread all over his cage floor. What a mess that was. He also loves to dig some small towels out of a wooden house I made for him and every once in awhile he will stop and look at you as if to say "look what I can do, Mom! He is so proud of himself when he does that and if you keep putting the towels back in the house he will keep doing it until he gets pooped out then has to stop for a rest and then go at it again. He has gotten himself into trouble a couple of times after he almost chewed right through a tv cord (thats in his room) while I wasn't home. Needless to say my husband and I have bunny proofed our house better now. He is not a cuddler as he absolutely hates to be picked up but does love to be petted.

I got him from a breeder who had no idea he was deaf. Even so he is a happy little bunny and loud noises don't bother him so I can vacuum right under his nose and it wouldn't phase him. An ear infection was probably what caused the deafness so his vet tells me.
