This
is Smokey, he is a four-year-old cockatiel and a joy to be around.
Together we live in Beverly Massachusetts. Smokey is special for many
reasons, but most importantly I am in a wheelchair and Smokey makes me
have to get out of bed, into his room, take him out of the cage and
play. This is good for him, yes, but even better for me as it makes me
use muscles in my arms and upper body that would not normally be used.
Smokey has an attitude all his own, he makes me work for his respect,
and I work hard for it. But to hear him whistle, or howl, or say "I Love
You" makes it all worthwhile! He is not just another pretty face -
though he is a beauty - Smokey is my bird, and my friend.
